1801 Richard Narrative History
Richard "Dickie" Choate was the seventh child of the ten of children of Sabret Choate & Mary Woodfork (or Woodfort). Married Sarah Edwards, Oct 7, 1826. Three sons John W. (Sept 10, 1862 typhoid Richmond VA), William Thomas (June 4, 1864 mortal wound Cold Harbor) and Sowell J. (July 2, 1863 Gettysburg PA, Company F, the “ Allegheny True Blues” in the 22nd North Carolina Infantry) were lost in the Civil War and Joshua Sabret was blinded by a bullet in one eye. Sowell J. never married, John W. was married and had a least one daughter (Nancy Cornelia??) and William Thomas was married and left behind six children.
