  from findagrave: "Daughter of Zack and Ennice McMillan Osborne. Attended Appalachian Teacher Training school in Boone and Women's College in Greensboro. She started teaching at two teacher Whitehead school for $40 a month. Later, she earned $75 a month at Va Carolina School in Grassy Creek. She ended up her career at Sparta School. Married A Vance Choate,a two term NC House Rep and 2 term Mayor of Sparta. Rebecca O Choate Scholarship was set up in 1991 to honor her classroom teaching and for an Alleghy Cty HS student entering education. Rebecca retired in 1965 after 47 years of teaching."
